A new 40 ft aluminium center boarder is now under construction.
Thirty years passed after I designed the boat which became the first Atlantic 40.
She was meant to compete in the then called Ó-star race, and had by no means the comfort which is now-a-days expected in a cruising yacht.
The boat did well in the race but commercially it was a disappointment, and the yard had to establish its present days good name by starting with building smaller yachts first.
Now implemented in the existing range of proven yachts, with all the know how gained by numerous earlier Atlantics, she is truly special in many ways when compared with production yachts.
More then before she is aimed to sail the Wadden sea, a large area with sand banks separated by sometimes narrow waterways.
Drying out is probably the main feature of the new 40 footer.
But by no means at the expense of her sea keeping performance, or her ease of handling.
Her interior is not unlike the Atlantic 38 but is just every where a bit roomier.
The hull is under construction and I will try to keep you informed about her progress
